How It Works

How selling by mail works

1

Compare and pick a buyer

Choose your device, its configuration and an honest condition. Every buyer’s published price for that exact spec is shown highest first. Takes about a minute.

2

Lock the price and ship free

You finish the sale on the buyer’s own site. They email a prepaid label — usually the same day — and hold the quoted price for their price-lock window (7–30 days, shown on every offer). Ship in any box; most sellers use the one it came in.

3

Inspection, then payment

The buyer inspects within 1–3 business days of delivery. If it matches what you described you’re paid by the method you chose. If they think it doesn’t, they send a revised offer you can accept or decline — declined devices come back to you free with every buyer we list.

Who You Sell To

How we choose the buyers we list

We only list buyers that publish a price for every configuration and condition, send a prepaid label, state a price-lock window, and return your device free if you decline a revised offer. We check those terms on the buyer’s own site and drop buyers who change them. Read the full criteria in how we choose mail-in buyers and what to expect in what happens after you ship.

Questions

Common questions about selling by mail

Is selling a device by mail safe?

Yes, when you sell to an established buyer. Every buyer we list has a published price for each configuration, a price-lock window, a documented inspection process and a free return if you decline a revised offer. You always finish the sale on the buyer’s own site — Trade Into Cash never holds your device or your money.

How long does it take to get paid?

Usually about a week door to door. The prepaid label typically arrives the same day, shipping takes two to four days, inspection one to three business days after delivery, then payment by the method you chose. Each buyer’s payment speed is shown on every offer.

What if my device is worse than I described?

The buyer sends a revised offer and explains why. You can accept it or decline; if you decline, every buyer listed here ships the device back at their expense. Grading honestly up front — use the condition guide on each category page — is the best way to avoid a revision.

Do I need to wipe my device first?

Yes. Sign out of iCloud or your Google account, turn off Find My or Activation Lock, remove the SIM and factory reset. A device still locked to an account cannot be paid for until it is released. Our wipe guide walks through each platform.

Should I sell locally or by mail?

If there is a local buyer near you, local usually pays the same day and the price is confirmed in person. Mail-in makes sense when there is no local buyer, when the top mail-in price is meaningfully higher, or when you would rather not meet. We show both wherever we can.

Have a buyer near you? Local usually pays the same day and confirms the price before you hand the device over — often worth more than the extra you’d get by post.
